Analisis Kemampuan Literasi Matematika Berbasis Pisa pada Konten Uncertainty and Data

Although numerous studies have examined mathematical literacy in solving PISA problems, the content area of uncertainty and data has rarely been the main focus. This study aims to address this gap by conducting an in-depth analysis of students’ thinking patterns and strategies in solving PISA problems that focus on uncertainty and data. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving three high school students in Palembang selected through purposive sampling based on varying levels of mathematical ability. Data were collected through written tests and in-depth interviews, and analyzed using the three OECD mathematical literacy indicators: formulate, employ, and interpret. The analysis revealed that students with high mathematical ability were generally able to meet nearly all of the indicators. In contrast, students with moderate ability typically met only two indicators, and students with low ability showed minimal achievement across all indicators. The formulate indicator appeared to be the most challenging aspect for most students. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening students’ mathematical literacy, particularly in formulating problems from real-world contexts, in order to enhance the quality of mathematics education in schools.
