Pelatihan Pengeringan Ikan Teri Tradisional Ramah Lingkungan: Solusi Pangan dan Ekonomi Berkelanjutan Desa Ulee Kareung, Kecamatan Simpang Mamplam, Kabupaten Bireuen

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has vast fisheries potential, particularly anchovies which are important commodities in Ulee Kareung Village, Bireuen. However, limited shelf life of fresh fish (1-2 days) and unhygienic traditional drying methods pose major challenges. This training aimed to design an effective, environmentally friendly method for drying anchovies based on appropriate technology. Participatory methods were applied, starting with the construction of a drying device from wood and mesh netting for 15 members of the Women Farmers Group. Results showed a significant increase in participant understanding (83% based on a pre-post test), a reduction in drying time from 3 to 1.5 days, and increased income. This drying device was able to reduce physical contamination by 60% and increase selling prices. This program not only improved product quality but also empowered women in sustainable fishery processing. The success of this initiative shows potential for replication in other coastal villages with similar characteristics.
