PENYULUHAN PENCEGAHAN PREEKLAMPSI MELALUI KEGIATAN MEUNASAH

Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the causes of death with quite high number in North Aceh Regency and is the highest case compared to the other 23 regencies/cities in Aceh Province in 2014, reaching 29 (19.5%) of the 149 cases recorded. One of the possible reasons for the high cases of preeclampsia is that there are still some people who believe in the myth of “lhee go basai ka lahee” (three times experiencing edema at the end of pregnancy indicates that the baby will be born soon). This study aimed to dispel this myth by providing counseling about preeclampsia prevention. The research method used was action research, the population was a family with primigravida mothers who live in the Working Area of the Tanah Luas Public Health Center, North Aceh Regency. The research instruments consisted of questionnaires, interview guides, infocus, loudspeakers, digital cameras, voice recorders, note books, leaflets and flipcharts. The results showed that there was an increase in respondents' knowledge about preeclampsia, especially for signs and symptoms and treatment of preeclampsia. Meunasah as a forum for social interaction provided a very important role in counseling activities on preventing preeclampsia so that there was an increase in respondents' knowledge about signs and symptoms and handling of preeclampsia at the household level. Traditional leaders who participated in counseling activities at the meunasah were very effective as intermediaries in disseminating information to the community so that the myth of "lhee go basai ka lahee" can be slowly dispelled.
